About Our Classes

At Happy Art Club, classes are kept small, with a maximum of 7–8 children, so that every child gets plenty of individual attention and support.

My teaching approach focuses on creativity, curiosity, exploration and enjoyment of the creative process. While I always prepare a range of exciting projects and ideas, children are encouraged to make their own choices and follow their interests. They can choose one of the proposed projects or develop an idea inspired by their favourite animals, hobbies, books or interests. Projects are often adapted to suit each child's age, confidence and individual creativity.

Throughout the term, children have the opportunity to explore a wide range of materials and techniques, including drawing, painting, collage, watercolour, acrylics, printmaking, clay, Modroc, soft pastels, oil pastels and mixed media.

Each session begins with a short warm-up activity where all children work on the same theme or challenge, but create their own individual artwork. This might include drawing from a still life arrangement, exploring a particular technique, responding to a creative prompt, or occasionally working together on a collaborative piece. These activities help children build confidence, practise new skills, share ideas and develop friendships within the group before moving on to their individual projects.

My goal is not simply to create beautiful artwork, but to help children develop confidence, creativity, problem-solving skills and a lifelong love of making art.
